Sun, sea and sand on Sri Lanka's south coast

And rain. Rainy season is upon us here, so when it s not beautifully sunny, or just a bit cloudy, it is raining. But that's OK, because the rain is warm, and there's plenty of it.

Six weeks in Sri Lanka, and I have finished with the volunteer programme. It has been a great experience, and I have met some amazing people. Now I have a few days in Ahangama on the south coast, where I will fall off a surf board and drink beer, followed by a week's travel up Sri Lanka's east coast to the north, and then a hop over to India, to continue my travels there.

I am here with a Danish couple - Andreas and Celine - a girl from Holland, Katja, who I first met during the wild elephant conservation programme, and Robin, who is German.

Robin and I shared a room when we first arrived in Kandy, in the central province, six weeks ago. Now we are sharing a room again. In fact we are sharing a bed...
It's very cozy. "Gemütlichkeit" as they say in his native Bavaria.

Indeed, Robin is flying to Mumbai this Friday. He will be traveling the Indian coast looking to put his skills as a cocktail maker to good use. I will be expecting mate's rates when I pay him a visit.

Andreas and Celine are enrolled on a surf camp five minutes' walk away. Like beach parasites, Robin and I will be sucking surf knowledge out of their skulls in a bid to master the art of surfing on the cheap. Andreas has also agreed to teach me to play the ukulele, so this should be a productive few days!!

Watch this space!!
